Why print shops ask for 300 DPI

At normal reading distance the human eye can't separate dots finer than about 300 per inch, so 300 DPI is the point where a print looks perfectly smooth. Labs use it as a quick check: a file labelled 72 DPI usually came straight from a screen or a phone, and gets flagged even if it has plenty of pixels.

How big will my image print at 300 DPI?

Divide the pixel width and height by 300. A 3600 × 2400 pixel photo prints at 12 × 8 inches (30.5 × 20.3 cm). The tool shows this for every file before you download. Common sizes:

300 DPI vs higher resolution

Changing the label to 300 DPI keeps every pixel, so a large image stays large and sharp. If your image doesn't have enough pixels for the print size you want, you need a higher-resolution original or an AI upscaler; no DPI tool can add real detail.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, completely free with no sign-up, watermark or file limit beyond 200 images per batch.
